Nuclear
Cardiology provides a comprehensive array of outpatient services
to assess heart damage, problems with blood supply and function
of the heart muscle. Our Nuclear Cardiology Department was
recently granted accreditation for the Myocardial Perfusion
Imaging by the ICANL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation
of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories). Our laboratory is one of
the first nuclear cardiology laboratories in the United States,
Canada and Puerto Rico to be recognized for its commitment
to high quality patient care and its provision of quality diagnostic
testing. The ICANL developed the accreditation program to evaluate
the critical elements of a nuclear cardiology laboratory including
the quality of the physician and technologist experience and
training which directly correlates with the diagnostic accuracy
of the examination. Participation in the accreditation process
is voluntary. Accreditation status signifies that our facility
has been reviewed by an independent agency that recognizes
the laboratory’s commitment to quality testing for the
diagnosis of heart disease.
